No. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. Reiki does not require one to "believe" in it; one only need to give permission to receive it because Reiki is spiritually guided and respects free will.
No. Reiki comes directly from the Creator and is life force energy, composed only of the higher frequencies of love, healing, kindness, compassion, etc.
Prior to the session, your practitioner will discuss any issues which you would like to address. You will then lie fully clothed on a massage table or sit in a chair. During a distance session, Reiki will work regardless of where you are or what you are doing; however it is beneficial to relax wherever is most comfortable for you and enjoy the experience. A session will typically run about 60 minutes, although time can vary depending on the service selected. The practitioner will gently place their hands slightly above your body as they go from head to toe; in the case of a distance session, this is done remotely. Both methods are based on the intention of moving energy. Both methods of treatment are very effective and each have their benefits. Many people enjoy the distance treatment as they are able to relax in their own space while receiving the full benefit of an in person treatment.
While each person's experience varies, you may experience warming or a heating sensation in the area being treated, you may see colors or images in your mind or have feelings and emotions come to surface; some sense tingling or release, other times you may not notice anything at all! Yes, Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-invasive therapy that can be used on anyone. Some healthcare professionals feel that Reiki helps reduce the side effects of drugs and radiation and may even reduce or eliminate the need for pain medications. It is used in many hospitals and medical institutions as a complimentary therapy to conventional therapies. Reiki works well on it's own as well as in harmony with conventional and alternative therapies.
